Copenhagen: from Andersen to the Guinness
Denmark's capital enchants from the first minute dating - its elegant tower steeples, manicured parks, cozy streets with gas lamps and bustling squares, lovely quays, melodic fun in the outdoor cafes and a sensation of something subtly fabulous. And do not be surprised if after a couple of days in the capital of Denmark your fingers themselves will take a pencil and begin to withdraw at the first available leaf: "Once, many years ago, in the Danish kingdom lived-were ..." closeArriving from Copenhagen Airport to the city center by subway for some 20 minutes, you will surely find yourself at the Town Hall Square - in the heart of old Copenhagen. Danish municipality looks like a textbook: burgundy stone building, with ornate gilt clock arrows, which appear to be ticking a century ago, and bronze mythical creatures near the entrance. If the weather allows, stay here for long: sit down on the bench, let the northern wind, pull your hair, watch the people hurrying in all directions and start to invent their tale ... Perhaps, that's done once and a great storyteller Hans-Christian Andersen, in Copenhagen, has spent most of his life. His bronze statue stands there, not far from the Town Hall, on the Boulevard Andersen. Touch and you polished up the knee of the writer, simply because - for good luck.
Learn more about the difficult fate of the most famous Dane can be the museum, which is dedicated to his work, located in the vicinity - on the other side of the square (57, Radhuspladsen). During the 34 Danish crowns (1 euro - about 7,5 kroner) you'll see a tiny attic room where Andersen composing their stories, marvel crooked handwriting of the writer and enter the world of your favorite childhood fairy tales, the characters are brought to life in whimsical installations. But do not hurry to leave the building: here is a museum of Guinness World Records. And around the corner there are a couple of museums in one building: the gayest place in Copenhagen - Museum of improbabilities Ripley's, brought together the most absurd thing in the world, and the museum Mystics (57, Radhuspladsen).
But is it worth the whole day to wander about the museums, where the city itself is full of these treasures? Pedestrian street Stroget fascinate curious tourists quaint architecture and mysterious crooked alleys, and present Shopaholic - an incredible number of shops. This is the main shopping street in Copenhagen, and a few decades ago, business was brisk in New Harbor, or Neuhavn, the very waterfront, with the cards - with multi-colored gingerbread houses. We are only selling souvenirs, excellent Danish beer and excellent food. Find a free table in a street cafe is like a miracle, but if not lucky - do not despair: just sit on the wooden parapet of the embankment, as do the people themselves of the capital, admire the old ships, listen to street musicians and chew the famous Danish sandwiches with herring "Smorrebrod".
Incidentally, the best open Danish sandwiches can be tasted in the restaurant The Tyvenkokkenhanskoneo-Hendeselsker. This is one of the oldest restaurants in Copenhagen, offering as much 178 varieties of sandwiches and wonderful fish dishes. During the famous sandwich asked SEK 70.
Fortified, go for a walk past the Royal Palace Amalienborg (18, Amaliengade). The building itself is not very impressive, but the daily noon divorce guard attracts many onlookers. And every night, for 15 minutes before closing the park, there is lit illumination incredible!
And who knows, maybe after a busy day here, returning to the hotel, you allow your imagination a sheet of paper, putting a fat dot at the end of the phrase "... And they lived happily ever after."
