In the west mountains towered, but I have gone on the north to be under wood cover. But here wood has come to an end, and I stood on an edge, choosing a way it is easier, which would demand from me less forces. All has been covered by a high grass of which stones here and there stuck out. The valley rose upwards, but the slope was not so abrupt, so it was possible to go forward. And I have gone on a valley, as did not test in myself enough forces to climb up rocks.I have already departed far enough from wood as has suddenly understood that I go on a roadway - on stone plates which have been laid so skilfully that between them even it was not visible the earths. The road was not such wide that on it vans could drive..., but horsemen could drive easily on it. Anyway, but me has again carried. I slowly went forward, stopping to have a rest and overcome attacks of dreadful delirium which came suddenly and forced me to have a shower bath cold then for fear.
This paved track - I could not name its road - conducted on the north. Gradually I have approached to gorge between two huge rocks which tops ran into the sky.
Despite heat of the sun, on me all time was rolled by cold waves, sometimes such strong that I had to lean against a stone and to wait, when they will rush back.
The gorge was wide though the central part has been paved only. The space between a track and rocks has been carefully cleared of stones. I have assumed, is what is it made that here it was impossible to arrange an ambush. Thinking of it, I attentively looked round. Having recollected winged monsters, I have quickened the pace to leave as it is possible further by the light of day.
And Gru I any more did not recollect Gatee. Now I had to think of own safety, and it demanded concentration of all my forces.
Again the road has gone uphill. But the inclination was flat so I could not reduce speed of a step. The cool breeze blowing towards, carried back a stench of the dried up blood by which my clothes have been soiled. At last I have entered into gorge and could consider attentively that was doubtless the first bastion of the western mountains.
